I was commisioned by Istvan Schritter, Del Eclipse’s art director, to illustrate this story about a train travelling by different parts of the Argentinian culture and world history. I wanted to take the essence of the text and transform it in a parallel story, through the illustrations. The idea was wild but original and it was accepted by the art director, a renowned illustrator as well.
Spanish foundation Germán Sanchez Ruiz Pérez chose the book to be displayed at the Reader’s Channel, an online project that shares relevant books for children’s literature.
In 2013, in a lecture at the Fifth Conference of Poetics of Argentinian Children’s Literature at La Plata University in Buenos Aires. (Spanish only)

Takeaways
Illustration: Being consistent with characters, mixing handmade and digital images, scanning and naming layers in Photoshop.
Storytelling: I thought this project needed different wording and metaphors, especially because the text was long and needed a twist. To make it more appealing, I created a parallel story with my illustrations.
Design: Learned to use filters in Photoshop, combining them with digital painting to mix layers of old maps, trains, and train tickets. Designed a storyboard and achieved the desired result from sketch to screen.
